Given the recent affiliation of IGM with the new RIT Center for Media, Arts, Games, Interaction & Creativity, our most recent projects and ongoing work is described there.
In addition to the formally funded work described through the Center, there are several other projects and initiatives that continue to form the backdrop of the School. Recent initiatives involve the exploration of mobile and social applications, the OUYA platform, gestural computing interfaces, games for a wide variety of discovery and artistic purposes (including healthcare simulation, scientific visualization, music generation, and economic development just to name a few). There is a constant churn of projects, scholarly activities, creative works, and media production that forms a healthy and vibrant research and development community that augments and extends our work in the classroom.
Furthermore, several of our upper division courses are "project based" and seek specifically to engage students in various topics in emerging technology, artistic practice, and design concepts. This past year, some of these courses included such topics as HTML5 & WEBGL Game Engine Design, MMORPG Engine Development, Augmented Reality Interfaces, Experimental Game Design, and several others. The intersection of our creative culture and its relationship with the curriculum and course delivery is a constantly evolving effort, and a major strength of the School.
