October 1, 2012 - Washington DC. Professor Andrew Phelps, Director of the School of Interactive Games & Media at RIT, was one of a hand-selected group of participants at the Symposium on Innovation to Drive Productivity in Postsecondary Education held at Georgetown University. The symposium was hosted by the U.S. Department of Education in collaboration with The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The event included remarks from Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, as well as panels by Andrew Ng (co-CEO, Coursera), Sebastian Thrun (Professor of Computer Science at Stanford and CEO, Udacity), Carol Twig (President, National Center for Academic Transformation), Jim Shelton (Assistant Deputy Secretary, Office of Innovation and Improvement), Catherine Casserly (CEO, Creative Commons) and many others, closed by a call to action by Martha Kanter, Under Secretary of Education.
